Exciting News: Welcoming Our New Executive Director!

We are thrilled to officially introduce the newest leader of our pack, Roger Roberts, who joined us this past March as our new Executive Director!

Roger comes to Mountain Shelter Humane Society with years of dedicated experience working in the non-profit sector. His passion for community service and proven track record of making a positive impact make him the perfect fit for our mission.

We are incredibly excited to have him on board, and we are already looking forward to all of the wonderful, positive changes he will bring to our shelter, our volunteers, and—most importantly—the animals in our care.

Please join us in giving Roger a warm welcome!

Expanding Our Team: Welcome, Chuck Henz!

The exciting updates don't stop there! We are also absolutely delighted to welcome Chuck Henz to the team as our new Marketing Director.

We are so excited to have Chuck on board, and we can’t wait to see his creativity and expertise in action. Keep an eye out for some of his great work in the near future as he helps us share more of our shelter's stories, animals, and events with all of you!

Welcome to the team, Chuck!

Employee Highlight:

Celebrating Rusty Drennan

Behind every great shelter is an incredible team, and today we want to shine a well-deserved spotlight on Rusty Drennan, who has been with Mountain Shelter Humane Society for an amazing 16 years!

Rusty has seen so many changes over the years. He originally started out with us as our Kennel Supervisor, and a few years ago, he transitioned into his current role as the Adoption Center Maintenance Supervisor.

To put it simply: Rusty is the glue that holds this place together! From building and renovating to repairing absolutely everything, he ensures our shelter is a safe, beautiful place for our staff, volunteers, and animals. Rusty is truly the backbone of the adoption center, and we are so incredibly thankful to have him on our team.

Thank you, Rusty, for 16 years of hard work and dedication!

Board of Director Updates

The last several months have been eventful for the Mountain Shelter Board.

First, we want to recognize the departure of Rob Medwed, our Board President. He held that role for several years and brought the organization through significant positive changes. His leadership will be missed!

In his stead, Wade Hampe has moved from his role as Treasurer to take on Rob’s responsibilities as President. Additionally, Joe Nickerson has assumed the role of Vice President, Cynthia Campbell as Treasurer, and Leeah Hughes as Secretary. Peter Papas and Jacob Anderson have also joined as board members. We welcome the new board members and recognize that each one brings specific skills and knowledge to support the objectives of Mountain Shelter!

Green Bean Festival Fun!

On July 25th, we hosted our first-ever Green Bean Puppy Pageant, and it was an absolute blast! We had so much fun that we've decided to make it an annual tradition!

We are so excited to introduce our very first pageant royalty:

  • The Green Bean Queen: Miss Jolene! She is currently a resident at our adoption center and is actively looking for her forever home!

  • The Green Bean King: Our cool rocker dude, Ash! Ash was a shelter resident, but we are thrilled to share that he has since gone to his forever home!

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us, entered their pups, and helped make this inaugural event such a huge success!

Happening Now: Clear the Shelter Month!

We have a busy month ahead, and we can't wait to see you out in the community. Be sure to mark your calendars for this important event: August – Annual "Clear the Shelter" Month is HERE! August is our biggest adoption push of the year! To help as many animals find homes as possible, we are offering special $25.00 adoption fees all month long. Come visit us at the shelter to meet your new best friend!

We Need Your Help! We are actively looking for generous donors and sponsors to help offset the costs of our $25.00 adoption fees during Clear the Shelter month. If you or your business would like to sponsor a pet's adoption, please contact the adoption center for more details on how you can get involved!
